Dear Faithful Friend,

Prayer, Intercession and Purim

The Jewish holidays are a prophetic picture of God's plan for the redemption of the earth. It is no coincidence that the death, resurrection and outpouring of the Holy Spirit occurred on the Spring Feasts of Passover, First Fruits and Shavuot. Likewise the return of the Lord and the establishment of the heavenly Kingdom are foretold by the Fall Feasts of Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

In between the Fall and the Spring feasts is Purim, the holiday in which the nation remembers the story told in the Book of Esther. During that dark period of history, a wicked Persian prince named Haman conspired to murder all the Jewish people that lived in the Kingdom of Persia. Although God's name is not mentioned in the entire Book of Esther, his faithful and loving hand towards Israel is clearly revealed as the story unfolds.

A Jewish man named Mordecai asked his beautiful young cousin Esther, who had become the bride of the King of Persia to go before him and plead with him to have mercy on the Jewish people. Although this act was very dangerous,  Esther responded to her Uncle Mordecai's request. The entire Jewish population prayed and fasted for three days, after which Esther brought her request for the salvation of the Jewish people before the King. When she entered his chambers, King Xerxes raised his royal scepter, received Esther into his presence and granted her request to save the Jewish people. In a final prophetic act Haman, the very one who had conspired to destroy the Jewish people is sent to the gallows in place of Mordechai.

Even as the Spring and Fall Feasts prophetically proclaim God's plan, so too the story of Esther gives us a picture of the events that must occur before the second coming of the Lord. Throughout history there have been many attempts to destroy the Jewish people. These satanically inspired attacks will not stop but will find their culmination in the Last Days proceeding Yeshua's return. In those dark days, the nations of the earth will  gather one last time in order to destroy Israel. As is written in the last chapter of the book of Zechariah, on that glorious day Yeshua, the mighty King will return to the Mt. of Olives and save his people Israel.

Amazingly, the prophetic fulfillment of the story from the Book of Esther can be seen on the world stage today. Biblical Persia is today the nation of Iran. In that nation, Haman has become the wicked Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who is conspiring to destroy Israel. This time the beautiful bride that is to come before the all powerful King is the church as she prays, intercedes and fasts for the Jewish people. Our mighty King Yeshua will hear the cries of his beautiful bride, he will extend his golden scepter and again Israel will be saved.

A National Day of Intercession

This coming Friday, as the nation begins the celebration of Purim, the Body of Messiah will gather in Jerusalem for a day of fasting, prayer and intercession for our nation. The very same wicked powers and principalities that conspired to destroy the Jewish people so long ago are once again at work. But we who believe know that ultimately the battle we fight is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places. God will hear our prayers and the wicked principalities that desire to destroy Israel will be stopped.

We want to encourage you to join us in prayer and fasting on this Friday, the 26th of February as believers from throughout the nation of Israel will gather together in Jerusalem to fast and pray for our nation. Together, as God's beautiful bride lifts her voice to heaven, our wonderful and loving God will hear our cries and supplications.

Please also continue to pray for all the believers, the soldiers and the establishment of the body here in Jerusalem and throughout the Land. The harvest is ripe and we need your help to bring it in.

We thank you for your faithful love and support. You are greatly appreciated!

We send you our love from Zion,
Eddie and Jackie
